Mr. & Mrs. Suggs

I am so happy to share my past weekend experience with you!  I had the honor of being apart of one of my best friends wedding.  The day could not have been any more perfect-- from the weather to the decorations to the dancing.

Daniel and I have loved Kaitlyn and Chad's venue, Glendalough Manor, since we looked at it as a potential venue for our wedding.  It has some of the most beautiful scenery and architecture; it is the perfect outdoor venue.

The wedding was so perfect that I decided to share it with you to let you get a glimpse of this amazing night.

These pictures do not do any justice, but hopefully you got an idea on how beautiful this wedding really was.  It so amazing to see a couple truly in love.

If you are interested in checking out this venue for your future event contact: (678) 870-0068

I'll be sure to update this blog whenever the professional photos are uploaded.

Alpharetta police officer shot multiple times during traffic stop

By Rebecca Fusco

Alpharetta officer, David Freeman, was shot five times, on Friday, during a traffic stop along Main Street. Freeman was gunned down by Curtis Hicks after being pulled over for an expired tag.  Hicks soon fled the parking lot and led police on a high-speed chase.  Hicks and the responding police officers released gun fire on one another, resulting in death.  Victims involved in the shoot-out are recovering at North Fulton Hospital.

ALPHARETTA, Ga.--- Alpharetta officer, David Freeman, was shot five times, on Friday, during a traffic stop along Main Street.  Freeman pulled over 52-year-old Curtis Hicks for a tag violation in the parking lot of a Christian bookstore.  As Freeman approached the black truck, Hicks opened fire.  “ The gunshots were so loud,” Debbie Allen, a passerby, said.  “I rolled down my windows and I could smell where the gunshots went off.  It’s scary to think that the gunman could of shot anyone in the area.” After shooting at Freeman, Hicks drove off and eventually got onto Georgia 400, driving at a fast speed. While Hicks drove off, Freeman took cover and was able to call for help.

Suspect opens fire on police officers
Hicks led police on a car chase after injuring Freeman.  During the pursuit, Hicks began firing shots at the officers. After Freeman crashed north of the Northridge Road exit, he got out of his vehicle and opened fire, hitting four patrol cars. “Situations like this are extremely dangerous, especially in the open, where there are bystanders,” Aaron Shogren, police officer, said.  “The best thing to do is to take down the criminal to help keep everyone safe.” Hicks was shot and killed by authorities after he exchanged fire.  There were not any other officers injured during the shoot-out.

Two people injured throughout night
Officer Freeman is in stable condition at North Fulton Hospital and is expected to have a full recovery.  Freeman was hit in the leg, lower abdomen, right arm and twice in the vest area.  Freeman will undergo surgery and has received paid vacation to rehabilitate. “Although I don’t work at North Fulton Hospital, I see tragic accidents like this all the time,” Courtney Holguin, Emory Hospital inter, said.  “It’s especially scary when one of the people who is supposed to be protecting us comes in injured.” Griselda Cervantes, of Woodstock, was also transported to North Fulton Hospital.  As Hicks continued to shoot at the authorities, one of his bullets hit the female driver in the hip. The bullet still remains in Cervantes' lower back.  Cervantes was traveling, in her SUV, with her 5-year-old daughter from paying her taxes.  She was shot during the chase, but was unsure at the time if it was from the suspect or police officers. This video will give you more insight into how the innocent bystander is doing as she recovers.

Delays in traffic from shooting
Georgia 400 traffic was re-routed to the Holcomb Bridge Road exit.  The lanes on Georgia 400 were reopened Saturday morning after being closed for several hours.  It was the second shooting on a Georgia freeway in two days. On Thursday afternoon, an unidentified man believed to be a Miami rap executive was shot dead in a Maybach luxury car on I-20 in DeKalb County.

Hicks lived in a town home community on Oak Harbor Trail, off of Bells Ferry Road. Hicks' neighbors described him as being mentally ill in many ways. Many neighbors noticed his drastic weight loss, which caused much concern. The Oak Harbor Homeowner's Association confirmed that police attempted to to serve Hicks with papers for a lawsuit related to unpaid homeowner's fees; he owed thousands for years of unpaid dues."It's crazy to think that I pass that neighborhood to come to class," Daniel Dey, Kennesaw State University student, said. "The neighborhood always seems so calm and quiet, with rarely anyone entering or exiting it." Along with not paying his dues, Hicks' truck was also towed from the property last Wednesday.

Our Engagement Party

Daniel and I celebrated our engagement party with our closest friends and family recently.  I thought that this would be a great blog to do since the last entry I did was on planning an engagement party.

There was many hours spent preparing this party and we THANK every person who was involved!

Engagement Party

As a future bride, I am excited to post ideas, Dos and Don'ts of an Engagement Party!  Daniel and I will be having our Engagement Party at the end of Feburary, so I think this is a perfect time to post.  We have just sent out invitations and are finishing up the last minute details.  I hope this post will help out, either you or someone you know, planning an Engagement Party.

So first, lets talk about themes.  Themes can be anything from a color scheme to Breakfeast at Tiffany's to a vintage baseball party.  It is all about what you and your fiance want to do.

Advice:
  • Make sure it is a theme that you both like!
    • It's a day to celebrate both of you, not just one or the other.
  • Search different websites and blogs for ideas!
    • The Engagement Party does not have to be right after he pops the question.
      • Take time to plan it (Depending on how long your engagement is going to be)
      • Choose different ideas and decide togeher which one you both like.
  • Make sure it is budget friendly!
    • We all love Pinterest, but the majority of the ideas on there are very pricey.
    • If you fall in love with a Pinterest idea, but it is out of your price range, modify it to fit in your price range.
  • Make sure the theme goes with the venue!
    • If you have an outdoor venue, choose an outdoor theme.
      • Barn: rustic theme.
Here are some great blogs and websites that you can get ideas and advice from----

Where?
Think about the atmosphere that you want to create.  Do you want a rustic theme, like in a barn, do you want a casual feel, like a cabin, or do you want a relaxed feel, like at a relatives house?  This is all up to the hosts of the party, but keep in mind the distance that everyone will have to travel.

Who Hosts?
Traditionally, the bride's family hosts the first celebration.  With it being 2013, traditions are not always followed.  Now a days, couple's are throwing the party by themselves, and that is perfectly fine. Many times, the couple's friends may help with putting the party together!  NEVER be afraid to ask.

What to Serve?
Depending on the time of day the event takes place, determines what food will be served. Many hosts will choose food that goes with the theme or multiple dishes that the bride and groom really enjoy.  There is no right or wrong dish to serve, just make sure there is plenty of it.

Bored? I don't think so..
As a host, you want to make sure you have plenty of activities or games planned to keep your guests entertained.
  • A great starter is to have music playing in the background.  This can help any akward quite situations that may occur.
  • Think of different games that everyone can participate in, especially the bride and groom.
    • Guessing games.
      • Questionaires about the couples.
      • The bride and groom are asked questions about each other-- This could get really embarrassing!
    • Don't say games: bride, groom, wedding, etc.
    • Picture match game
      • Have guests send in pictures prior to the party, put them in an envelope and have guests try to figure out who is who.  This is a great ice breaker!
I hope you have enjoyed this Blog!
